Make Your Dreams Happen

May 4, 2018 | Comments Off on Make Your Dreams Happen

It is Thursday night. I came home from school after a full day and went to bed for an hour;  my cat is sleeping on my arm. The sunlight is shining through on this gorgeous spring day.

I am doing a lot to make my dreams happen. Making this vision into reality requires me to self-care, so I don’t burn out.

I have a sub-section meeting with a group I belong to – NW Ladies In Business.  I drag my weary-ass from the bed, feed the animals, grab some food as a snack to bring to the meeting. I am going. I am showing up to me and gathering community support.

There were three women, including me, that turned up, so we had ninety minutes to hear what each of us was doing and ask for support. Mitzi had just joined the group, so this was her first meeting. She’s a family therapist, an artist, photographer, advocate for Seniors & their community centers and utilizing humor to help the aging process. Mitzi has podcasts and can be found on Instagram. I liked her immediately because she has a passion for making her dreams come true. Mitzi’s starting a Kickstarter to fund going to craft fairs around the states this summer to record senior’s stories. She knows you can find seniors at craft fairs because she had previous exposure to a sell-out artistic product she and her sister had made. She says, once the people show up, I connect with them, and then they want whatever I have to sell.

Mitzi wants to revitalize senior centers and make them fun. She has a vision, and she’s putting it into place.

Shannon is the amazing woman who started Northwest Ladies in Business last fall. She did this because she was a lonely female entrepreneur who wanted to relate to other women in business in the Seattle area. Shannon wanted women who wished for relationships and support with other women in business before hawking their wares. So far, over three-hundred women in the group and she envisions every city having this kind of a group. She is on her way to making her dream happen.

And me? By now, you should know I love hearing peoples’ stories, recording them and putting them in books. I’m teaching people how to make their books and making this easily accessible and affordable to anyone, any age who has a story to tell. I’d like to buy this lodge up in The San Juan Islands, so I can put on classes, have recording sessions and training there. I’d like to get this by my birthday, end of July.  I believe this is possible.

I’d love to ask for Corporate Sponsorship, but I haven’t started that process yet, so if you know anyone who can help me open some doors in Corporate, I’d appreciate it.

Our dreams can be made into a physical reality when we take the vision step-by-step, see the practicality of it and whether or not our goal ultimately serves people in their abilities to survive and thrive. Showing up to meetings, communities, events, making connections and asking for support is part of the leadership that needs to make the dream practical.

Showing up for action is a good start because action turns the dream into reality.
